The Annual Meeting on 12 March 2000
In addition to the customary annual meeting proceedings, the meeting featured a packed programme with various activities that, as usual, exceeded the planned time limits.
Since essentially the same board members had managed the association since its founding in spring 1992, it seemed justified to make some changes in board positions. It is hoped that this will provide impetus for new activities. Since the number of entomologists in the district is fairly limited, however, there are no particularly radical changes involved.
Ulf Nylander was elected as new chairman in place of Göran. Gunnar Bakken took over the secretary position from Johan Höjer. Björn Belfrage was elected as new treasurer in place of Bengt Sjöström. Göran Sjöberg continues as editor of the journal Insectifera. Clas remains as alternate member. Åsa Eriksson was elected as new alternate member in place of Esbjörn Nordlund.
The proposed annual fee of 50 kronor, of which 10 kronor goes to the Swedish Entomological Society, was approved, while the subscription for Insectifera was set at 100 kronor. Since we continue to finance the journal solely through subscription fees, that is entirely without subsidies from outside, Insectifera can only be obtained through advance payment. However, we cannot manage more than one issue per year. Articles and other interesting contributions are gratefully received. Also, many thanks to Lars Ahlmark for a generous contribution to the continued publication of the journal!
At the annual meeting, a report was given on work with the Provincial Insects. See further details in a separate article. Ulf and Göran reported on the 10th Swedish Entomological Meeting on Öland, where Olov and Per-Erik Wedin were honoured with the Swedish Society's landowner prize, which goes to those who have done something commendable for the preservation of Swedish insect fauna. We will return in the next issue of Insectifera with an article about the brothers' commendable preservation of their fine spruce forest at Bladmyran in Hille.
Clas reported on his major project inventorying Gävleborg's butterfly fauna. Over the more than 15 years since the work began, the number of confirmed species in Gävleborg has increased from approximately 1100 to now over 1400 species!
Ulf showed, as usual, a box with fantastic creatures. Were they beetles or were they chocolates in colourfully sparkling glossy tin foil? This time the box brought along was also packed with unusually many astounding wood-boring beetles, several of them completely new to science! It is truly impressive that we in Gävle have such an expert on the world's wood-dwelling beetles.
Göran showed the 2 collections of the world's butterflies he had on display at the newly opened butterfly museum on Öland and at the butterfly exhibition that Åsa and Krister were responsible for on Laxön by Älvkarlebyfallen. More than 1000 visitors were counted at the latter exhibition during the weeks it was held, which must be said to be very impressive. More about this exhibition will appear in the next issue of Insectifera.

Årsmötet den 12 mars 2000
Förutom sedvanliga årsmötesförhandlingar bjöd årsmötet på ett späckat program med olika aktiviteter som i
vanlig ordning spräckte planerade tidsramar.
Efter det att i stort sett samma styrelsemedlemmar skött föreningen sedan starten våren 1992 kändes det
motiverat med vissa byten på styrelseposterna. Förhoppningsvis kan detta ge impulser till nya aktiviteter.
Eftersom antalet entomologer i distriktet är ganska begränsat är det dock inte fråga om några alltför omvälvande
förändringar.
Till ny ordförande efter Göran valdes Ulf Nylander. Gunnar Bakken övertog sekreterarposten efter Johan Höjer.
Björn Belfrage valdes till ny kassör efter Bengt Sjöström. Göran Sjöberg fortsätter som redaktör för tidskriften
Insectifera. Clas kvarstår som suppleant. Till ny suppleant efter Esbjörn Nordlund invaldes Åsa Eriksson.
Förslaget till årsavgift på 50 kr, varav 10 kr till Sveriges Entomologiska Förening, godtogs medan avgiften för
Insectifera fastställdes till 100 kr. Då vi fortsättningsvis finansierar tidskriften enbart med prenumerations-
avgifterna, dvs helt utan bidrag från utomstående, kan Insectifera endast erhållas genom förskottsbetalning. Mer
än ett nummer per år orkar vi dock inte med. Artiklar och andra intressanta bidrag mottages tacksamt. Stort tack
också till Lars Ahlmark för generöst bidrag till fortsatt utgivning av tidskriften !
Vid årsmötet redogjordes för arbetet med Landskapsinsekterna. Se vidare härom i särskild artikel. Ulf och Göran
berättade om det 10:e Svenska Entomologmötet på Öland där Olov och Per-Erik Wedin hedrades med Sverige-
föreningens markägarpris som går till den eller de som gjort något berömvärt för bevarandet av den svenska
insektsfaunan. Vi återkommer i nästa nummer av Insectifera med en artikel om brödernas berömvärda avsättning
av sin fina alskog vid Bladmyran i Hille.
Clas redogjorde för sitt stora projekt med inventeringen av Gästriklands fjärilsfauna. Under de drygt 15 år som
gått sedan arbetet påbörjades har antalet konstaterade arter i Gästrikland ökat från c:a 1100 till nu drygt 1400
arter !
Ulf visade som vanligt en låda med fantastiska skapelser. Var det skalbaggar eller var det chokladpraliner i färg-
sprakande glansigt staniolpapper ? Denna gång var den medhavda lådan dessutom proppad med osedvanligt
många häpnadsväckande kräk varav flera helt nya för vetenskapen ! Det är verkligen imponerande att vi i Gävle
har en sådan expert på jordens vedlevande skalbaggar.
Göran visade de 2 samlingar över jordens dagfjärilar han haft utställda på det nyöppnade fjärilsmuseet på Öland
och på den fjärilsutställning Åsa och Krister ansvarat för på Laxön vid Älvkarlebyfallen. Mer än 1000 besökare
räknades in till den senare utställningen under de veckor den pågick vilket måste sägas vara mycket
imponerande. Mer om denna utställning kommer i nästa nr av Insectifera.
